Habitat: Grows at lower elevations in fields, along rivers and streams.

Description:
Monarch Butterflies use this plant to lay their eggs. All Milkweeds are slightly toxic and bitter. Most of the toxins and bitterness are driven away by cooking in two changes of water. They have been widely used as food and medicine by various Indian tribes.
