I started my first tomatoes and peppers of the year. I have some Purple Heirloom Tomatoes and Orange Peppers going. It's also a great time to start your basil too. I start them in a south facing window to get a head start on the season. When you start tomatoes from seed at this time of the year you can actually get ripe tomatoes before the first frost in the fall.

We got too much rain and too little sun this year! My tomatoes took until September to start to ripen, then they started rotting before they got ripe. I finally got enough to put up for the winter, then I pulled the rest of the plants in disgust. Only the cherry tomato did well, and the frost got to it last night.

I had one spaghetti squash, a yellow crook neck squash and a zucchini that just wouldn't quit, though, so I guess that makes up for it.
